How to Download to iPod using iTunes
Method 1: Using the Feeds
This example is demonstrated using iTunes 7 on a Windows PC running XP. This method looks
complicated but really is more convenient.
- From the Earthbound Podcast main page
scroll to the bottom and point to the archive xml link for the audiobook you wish to download.
Right-click [or, on a Mac, do shift/click or
whatever you need to do for a single-button mouse to effect a right-click] on
the link and select copy link location [or the equivalent].
- Start up iTunes. Double-click on the Podcasts library topic. This will bring
up the Podcasts panel.
- Click on Advanced on the podcasts panel. From the pulldown, select
Subscribe to Podcast.
- In the dialogue box, paste the contents of your clipboard (remember, you copied
the feed URL in Step 1). Click OK
- Now you will see your selected feed in the Podcast screen. Click on the arrow
to the left of the feed name.
- This will expand the feed to show all the chapters. Click on the Get
button to download each chapter; or click on Get All
in the title bar to perform a mass download of all chapters.
- Close the Podcast panel. The audiobook chapters you downloaded will appear on your main
itunes panel under the Podcasts library topic.
Once the chapters are downloaded you may place them into playlists,
play them on your PC, burn them to CDs or transfer them to your iPod --
in other words, treat them like any other music file using iTunes
functions.
Method 2: Manual Downloads
This method is simpler but slower because it involves a lot of mouse-clicking...
- From the Earthbound Podcast main page
scroll to the bottom. Click on the cover art of the audiobook you
wish to download. this will bring up the chapter list for that book.
- Click on the Download link for each chapter to download. Save the files
to a folder on your hard drive.
- Open iTunes. From the File tab on the menu bar select Add file to library.
Browse to the folder containing your downloaded chapter .mp3 files and click to add. Repeat for all the chapters in the audiobook.
- You may play the file on your PC or transfer it to your iPod like any other music file.
